Since the beginning of 2004, several of our members have been transcribing the indexes of Births, Marriages and Deaths at the Burton Register Office. Most of the Births, Marriages and Deaths have been completed and the results of all this hard work can be viewed at www.staffordshirebmd.org.uk

The first transcriptions to be completed and uploaded to this website on 13th March 2004 were of church marriages in the Burton on Trent district from 1837 to 1881.
We progressed then through all the churches in the East Staffordshire district, all the civil marriages and registered deaths in Burton and the surrounding area.

We started on Registration of Births in Burton on Trent in 2009 and then expanded into Abbots Bromley, Tutbury, and Uttoxeter, which are all areas covered by the East Stafforshire registration distict.

Progress has been entirely dependent on the time that our willing volunteers have had available and the project is now almost completed. All the registers in the Burton Register Office have now been transfered for safe keeping to the Newcastle-under-Lyme Register Office.
Enquiries for East Staffordshire births, marriages and deaths can still be made through the Burton Register Office which is on the ground floor of Burton Library, Riverside, Burton-on-Trent. DE14 1AH
